A Parish visit to the Abbey on March 16. Guided tour, Short Worship and light refreshments please book with Robert Evens.
The details of the evening are as follows:
The evening starts with a sandwich/cake/soft drink buffet in the Refectory, from 7pm. At about 7.45pm you are divided into groups and go on a prayer trail around the Cathedral. The emphasis is on martyrdom (especially the story of Alban) and pilgrimage, but there is some of the history of the building as well. The Cathedral is in low light; the guides will indicate where there are steps or ramps. The trail ends in the Crossing at about 9pm where you have Compline by candlelight. You then process through into the Shrine of St Alban, where you can leave your candle. And then out into the night....
Please also note that there is no parking at the Cathedral apart from some parking for the disabled. Local NCP car parks are free after 6.30pm. Details of car parks can be found on our website (www.stalbanscathedral.org) in the Visit Us/Planning your visit section.
