Harvest Supper

22 September 2007

What fun!

Although we have served our Harvest Supper in church for the past two years, this year we added a new dimension by having a band and dancing in the nave. Pews were moved away from the centre of the nave and as many tables and chairs as could be found were installed there. Decorated with beautiful flowers and candles the church provided a warm and welcoming venue. The ceilidh band, Tam Lin, provided music and a caller, while the hot supper of sausages, baked potatoes and beans with apple pie and cream to follow provided much-needed fuel for energetic dancing and the bar provided ample liquid refreshment to quench the dancers' thirst! Not only did young and old enjoy an evening of fun together but, together with the proceeds from the Patronal Paella, we raised £623 for our chosen charity, the Kasiisi Porridge Project in Uganda, while the raffle of one huge basket of fair trade goods, raised a further £230 for the orphanage in Africa where Josie Reeve worked earlier this year.
