The biblical story of Ruth is alive with politics, hospitality, law and love. Ruth, a widow, crosses borders and arrives in a place where she feels she should have access to welfare but others aren’t sure. This text has resonance for private and public lives, as well as for church and civic policy.
St Mary’s is excited to be joined Pádraig Ó Tuama, poet and theologian and former leader of Corrymeela (Ireland’s oldest peace and reconciliation centre) as he discusses the Book of Ruth and its themes of resonance for today. He will share biblical insights, contemporary questions, poetic responses to the texts as well as engage in a q&a.
A bar and light refreshments will be available at the church from 7pm
Tickets are available here.
