St Mary's Ashwell

Music Festival

St Mary’s has a long tradition of running a music festival, which dates back to 1953, started by Canon Jack Catterick.  A variety of concerts is put on in the church across a week or two in the middle of May each year.  The programme usually includes a tribute band, and the chance to showcase local young musicians.  It often includes small musical ensembles of various genres, and sometimes larger groups such as the London Welsh Male Voice Choir and various top class Brass Bands.  The event has always been rounded off by a Festal Evensong provided by our own parish church choir.
