St. Mary's Ashwell has made a faculty application (the church equivalent of planning permission) on 6th November 2025 to introduce two wooden picnic benches in the churchyard, in the grassy area south of the tower. The picnic benches (funded by a council sustainable communities grant) are proposed to be sited in the grassy area south of the tower. There are no public picnic benches in the village and the hope is that it will help more local people to enjoy the churchyard, and that visiting walkers and cyclists will also make use of them. This all makes us a more welcoming place, serving the community. You can view the Faculty Public Notice and the proposal on our website page which is linked in the first comment. If you require hard copy print outs of any of these document(s), or if you have any further questions about this application, please contact the Parish Administrator via 01462 743922 or office@stmarysashwell.org.uk who will be able to assist you. ...
