Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about St Mary’s. A warm welcome awaits you at any of our services or events, and you may find the following information helpful.
Most weeks our main Sunday morning service starts at 10.45 More details can be found here.
There are always Welcomers at the back of church, they will help you find a seat and answer any questions that you may have.
For all our services we give out a booklet which clearly sets out the words and indicates what is going on. Hymns are often sung, and you are welcome to join in, or just listen, as you wish. We introduce each part of the service as we go along. If you are new to a typical Anglican communion service you might find this leaflet helpful .
Yes – very much so. The church is normally open daily from 8.30 am until 5pm (4pm in Winter) for you to wander round or sit quietly. In front of the Lady chapel (on the right as you face the front) there is a candle stand where you can light a candle and say a prayer for a loved one. There is also a table nearby, with some material you might find helpful for private prayer.
Further details are on our accessibility page.
There are baby changing and toilet facilities in the north west corner at the back of the church.
Children are welcome at all our services. There is a children’s play area in the south aisle in front of the lady chapel which you are welcome to use at any time.
Our service on the first Sunday of the month “Thank God Its Sunday” is for all ages, and is particularly suitable for families with children.
On other Sundays there is usually a Sunday school class for 4 – 11 year olds during the first part of the service, if you would to take advantage of this.
We would love for your child or you to be christened at St Marys. Details can be found here.
There are times in life when we all feel we want to chat through something that is on our mind. We would like to offer our support in total confidence. If you would like to chat to somebody, then please contact the Rector in the first instance.
