St Mary's Ashwell

Christening

Welcome. We are delighted that you are thinking about a Christening (also called Baptism) at St Mary’s, Ashwell. Since the church was established in Ashwell, we’ve welcomed babies, children and adults who come to be Christened.

Adults and older children can decide for themselves and ask to be Christened if they choose. Babies have the choice made for them – as happens with everything else in their early lives.

Christening marks the beginning of a journey with God which continues for the rest of our lives, the first step in response to God’s love. For all involved, particularly the candidates but also parents, godparents and sponsors, it is a joyful moment when we rejoice in what God has done for us in Christ, making serious promises and declaring our Christian faith.

If you don’t know the clergy the first step is to please telephone the Parish Office on 01462 743922 or email on office@stmarysashwell.org.uk

You will be put in touch with the Rector who will agree a date and time and help you plan the service.

Most Christenings take place on a Sunday, but other days are possible depending on circumstances. We love Christenings as part of our main Sunday morning services when our congregations can share in the welcome, but other times may be possible.
