Faculty for Picnic Benches in Churchyards

St. Mary's Ashwell has made a faculty application on 6th November 2025 to introduce two wooden picnic benches in the churchyard, in the grassy area south of the tower.

The picnic benches (funded by a council sustainable communities grant) are proposed to be sited in the grassy area south of the tower. There are no public picnic benches in the village and the hope is that it will help more local people to enjoy the churchyard, and that visiting walkers and cyclists will also make use of them. This all makes us a more welcoming place, serving the community.
